On Tuesday, February 11th, the celebration of the Italian Design Day 2025 was held at the Italian Cultural Institute in Miami. The Italian Design Day is the thematic event born in 2017, that involves the offices of the diplomatic-consular network, the Italian Cultural Institutes and ITA offices in promoting Italian creativity.

Testimonial for the Italian Design Day in Miami was world-renowned architect Piero Lissoni, one of the most appreciated masters of contemporary design and an authoritative interpreter of Italian genius, whose most iconic creations – in about 40 years of his international career – range from architecture to interior design, from product design to graphic design.
The connection between architect Lissoni and the city of Miami is a clear example of the recognition of “Made in Italy” in the economic, social and cultural ecosystem of South Florida. Various buildings and interiors, symbolic of the soaring economic growth that is making Miami one of the most important contemporary metropolises, have been designed by Piero Lissoni.

With a specific focus on the long-term answers that design can offer for a better living (Inequalities. Design for a Better Life), the event, organized by the Consulate General of Italy in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Trade Agency in Miami, was a great success, in front of an audience made up of industry specialists, entrepreneurs and personalities from Florida’s academic and cultural world. Lissoni described the cardinal principles of his aesthetic vision and his unrepeatable compositional method, illustrating with participation, and at the same time irony, the creative solutions that made him famous in the world, with a language that is increasingly appreciated and capable of enchanting a global audience. A special tribute to the well-known designer’s ability to articulate Miami’s iconic style, the Design Day was also an opportunity to exalt the best expressions of Made in Italy, charged with deep values and meanings that never cease to fascinate and be successful – and that, in the United States and in Florida in particular, have one of their main markets.

A communication strategy has been designed in Miami around the combination of art and design, in order to promote the best that Italy can offer in such fields, managing to arouse a strong interest in this particularly dynamic and demanding market. With the same objective, last December on the occasion of the Art Basel Miami Beach fair, an event jointly organized by the Consulate General of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Trade Agency in Miami was held to promote Salone del Mobile in Milan and Italian contemporary art galleries, resulting in a considerable success among professionals in this sector.
