From March 3 to 8, 2026, the Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF), the most important annual celebration of independent cinema in the area, returns to Tampa (Florida).

Founded in 2007, the festival has grown year after year and was named one of the “Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” by MovieMaker magazine, which praised its “less is more” approach and the attention devoted to each individual screening.

Today, GIFF attracts more than 100,000 attendees and is an integral part of Gasparilla Arts Month, established in 2013, which also includes the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts and the Gasparilla Music Festival.

For the first time, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Miami is collaborating with the festival, supporting the screening of the Italian movie Primavera, scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 6:45 PM at the AMC West Shore Theatre.

Primavera (2025), directed by Damiano Michieletto, is loosely based on the book Stabat Mater by Tiziano Scarpa, winner of the Premio Strega in 2009. The film tells the story of Cecilia, a young and talented violinist raised at the Ospedale della Pietà, the largest orphanage in Venice. The arrival of the new music teacher, Antonio Vivaldi, radically changes her life.
