On Thursday, March 26, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Miami, the tenth edition of Italian Design Day in the World will be celebrated, a thematic event that involves the offices of the diplomatic-consular network, Italian Cultural Institutes and Italian Trade Agency Offices in the promotion of Italian creativity.

For this occasion, the testimonial of Italian Design Day in Miami is Massimo Iosa Ghini, considered one of the most prominent Italian architects and designers on the international scene.
The event, jointly organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the local ICE Office, will focus on this year’s Design Day theme: RE-DESIGN. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, and relationships—an invitation to reflect on the role of design and architecture in revitalizing urban environments and rethinking objects, processes, and relationships to improve daily life and strengthen communities.

Massimo Iosa Ghini took part in the design avant-garde movements of the 1980s, founding the cultural movement Bolidism and being a member of the Memphis group led by Ettore Sottsass. In 1990, he founded Iosa Ghini Associati, which today operates internationally, developing projects for major groups and developers and working in product design, interiors, and architecture.
Architect Iosa Ghini—Ambassador of Italian Design and of the Red Dot Network, Full Member of the Comitato Leonardo and of the Accademia Clementina—received the Marconi Award for Creativity in 2015.

The connection between the architect and the city of Miami is a clear example of the success that Made in Italy knows in the economic, social, and cultural ecosystem of South Florida. Several buildings and interiors symbolic of the rapid economic growth that is making Miami one of the most important contemporary metropolises bear his signature, including the interiors of the residential skyscraper Brickell Flatiron and the office building 830 Brickell, contributing to the urban development of the Brickell area, one of the city’s main financial districts.
