Invite Listening to Turandot JPG

Turandot, the final opera by Giacomo Puccini, left unfinished and later completed by Franco Alfano, was performed for the very first time at Teatro alla Scala in April 1926. To mark this centenary, Florida Grand Opera presents a long-awaited production in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, with the premiere scheduled for Saturday, March 7.

On the eve of the premiere, on Friday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Miami will host Luigi Viani, Director of the Fondazione Giacomo Puccini (Lucca), who will offer the audience a listening guide to the opera, helping attendees approach the upcoming performances with greater awareness.

The Fondazione Giacomo Puccini, established in 1972 by the Municipality of Lucca at the initiative of Rita Dell’Anna Puccini, the composer’s daughter-in-law, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the composer’s tangible and intangible legacy.

Since 2005, the Foundation has been headquartered at the Casermetta San Colombano on the historic city walls, where it houses a library containing a significant collection of volumes, confirming its role as a key center for research and the dissemination of Puccini’s musical culture.
