Monday, May 18 at 7:30 PM, the Italian Cultural Institute of Miami invites you to a special screening of the film There’s Still Tomorrow (in the original Italian with English subtitles), a work co-written, directed, and starring Paola Cortellesi in her directorial debut. It is one of the highest-grossing films of all time in Italy and has received widespread acclaim from national critics, particularly for its direction and performances.
Presented at the 2023 Rome Film Festival in the “Progressive Cinema – Visions for the World of Tomorrow” section, the film received two awards, including the Special Jury Prize and a special mention for Best First Feature. It was later honored as Film of the Year at the 2024 Nastri d’Argento awards. The film also received 19 nominations at the David di Donatello Awards, becoming the debut feature with the highest number of nominations in the award’s history and winning six statuettes.
Set in post-World War II Rome, the film is shot entirely in black and white as a tribute to Italian neorealism, and tells the story of Delia, a woman dealing with a difficult family reality. The narrative weaves together moments of irony and drama, addressing highly relevant themes such as patriarchal culture, gender-based violence, and women’s rights, leading to a finale rich in symbolic and civic meaning.
The screening, which will take place at the Coral Gables Art Cinema (260 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134), is organized in parallel with the photographic exhibition There’s Still Tomorrow, Always, on display through June 1 at the Italian Cultural Institute of Miami. The exhibition features 50 still images taken during filming by Claudio Iannone, offering a privileged look behind the scenes and at the creative process.
The screening is free of charge, but reservations are required by sending an email to iicmiami.segreteria@esteri.it.
