From May 13 to 16, 2026, the city of Atlanta, Georgia will host the fifth edition of the European Film Festival, a well-established event that celebrates the richness and diversity of European cinema. The initiative, held at the Plaza Theatre and the Tara Theatre, is the result of collaboration between the Consulates General and Honorary Consulates of the European Union in Georgia, in partnership with several local cultural organizations.

The festival offers audiences four days of vibrant and engaging cinema. The selected films, coming from Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Switzerland, and Ukraine, are screened in their original languages with English subtitles.

Italy’s participation, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute of Miami and the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Atlanta, features the film Gloria! (2024), directed by Margherita Vicario, scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at 8:30 PM at the Tara Theatre (2345 Cheshire Bridge Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30324).

Set in late 18th-century Venice, Gloria! tells the story of Teresa, a young woman with visionary talent who, together with a group of extraordinary female musicians, challenges the conventions of her time. Through the creation of new, rebellious, and surprisingly modern music, the protagonist breaks the constraints of the Ancien Régime, bringing to life a story that crosses centuries with energy and originality.
