The tenth edition of the international symposium Italy in Transit (February 2-8, 2026) takes place in Boca Raton. This annual event brings together professors, researchers, and enthusiasts of Italian studies from across North America to present research analyzing the many aspects of Italian cultural identity.
The initiative is organized by the Italian Studies program at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Miami, and the support of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute.
The 2026 edition will include sessions on Italian Language Teaching, commedia dell’arte, and the sociology of Italian American communities. Among the many guests is director Sergio Naitza, who will present the films L’estate di Joe, Liz e Richard (2022, scheduled for Tuesday, February 3), Dalla quercia alla palma – I 40 anni di Padre Padrone (2017, scheduled for Thursday, February 5); L’isola di Medea (2017, scheduled for Saturday 7), shot in Grado (Gorizia), which reconstructs the set of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Medea, recounting the meeting between two great personalities of the 20th century – Pasolini and Maria Callas.
